The Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Seya temple in Anuradhapura has sent a letter to the IGP seeking a probe on slanderous and defamatory reports circulating on social media related to the “chuda manikyaya” of the Ruwanweli Seya.

The Thera said a person by the name of Anuja Jayasinghe had spread falsehood related to the Chuda Manikyya on the Ruwanweliseya- one of the most sacred places of worship among Buddhists in Sri Lanka.

The Thera said the views expressed by the person in question have misled society and undermined Buddhist monks.
