Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa attended Parliament today.

This was his first public appearance after the violent clashes on May 09 which broke out after a meeting at Temple Trees.

Amidst violent clashes, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family members were taken to the Navy Base Trincomalee under heavy security.

Subsequently, Prime Minister Rajapaksa stepped down from his position allowing Ranil Wickremesinghe to take over as the Prime Minister.
