Former Kurunegala District MP Thushara Indunil has issued a pointed demand, urging the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to appoint him as a National List MP, warning that failure to do so will compel him to make “tough decisions.”
This declaration came following a discussion held today (25) at the Opposition Leader's office in Colombo between Sajith Premadasa and a group of MPs from the Kurunegala District.
During the meeting, Indunil formally submitted a written request to the Opposition Leader, arguing that his contributions and position as one of the top ten elected members of the SJB across Sri Lanka make him deserving of the National List seat.
Speaking to the media after the discussion, Indunil emphasised his expectation for recognition, asserting, "It is the responsibility of the party to honour my contributions."
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Premadasa who spoke to the media, reassured that the issue would be resolved swiftly. However, no specific timeline or decision has been disclosed.
The SJB has been allocated five National List seats in Parliament, with the party's General Secretary, Ranjith Maddumabandara, occupying one of them. The other four seats are yet to be filled.
