Saheli Gamage, the singer who sang the song ‘Ayubo weva Maharajanani’ publicly apologized to the nation for singing the song in 2009.

She said she sang the song in the immediate aftermath of the ending of the war.

However, the singer said she deeply regretted her decision to sing the song and expressed solidarity with the Sri Lankans protesting the government.

She said her thoughts were with the Sri Lankans undergoing severe hardships under the current administration.
