Former Minister and SLFP Senior Vice Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva hassays that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has rejected the President's request to re-enter the Cabinet.
Nimal Siripala de Silva said that his party parliamentary group had informed the President that the decision taken by the party to function independently in Parliament could not be changed and that the demand of the people could not be rejected.
He also requested the President to present a plan to resolve the current crisis in the country.
The former minister said this addressing a media briefing held at the SLFP headquarters today (6).
He also said that the SLFP would support any move by the government to amend the 20th Amendment to the Constitution and abolish the executive presidency.
Nimal Siripala de Silva stated that he made these remarks during a discussion with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa after the independence of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in Parliament.
