All Provincial Governors have been instructed by the Finace Ministry to reduce electricity consumption by 20 percent in all provinces of the country.

A virtual discussion on the consumption of electricity in public places in each province was held yesterday (06) with the participation of provincial governors and Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

The Provincial Governors have been asked to direct the officials of all government agencies coming under their purview to reduce the consumption of electricity in public places by 20 percent.

Governor of the Northern Province Jeevan Thyagarajah has instructed the public officials of the Northern Province to expedite the process of switching to renewable energy in all government institutions in the Northern Province.
