Leader of the Democratic Left Front, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Vasudeva Nanayakkara has informed President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in a letter that he would not attend the Cabinet meetings.
It is learned that the Minister has stated in his letter to the President that he will continue to refrain from holding ministerial posts until justice is served to Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila who were removed from their ministerial posts.
Nanayakkara made his position clear to the public at a recent press conference held in Colombo. The press conference was attended by Weerawansa, Gammanpila and other party leaders of the constituent parties of the ruling alliance.
Nanayakkara and other party leades held a discussion with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday evening to iron out differences. The outcome of the meeting, however, is not yet clear.
