In an unusual turn of events, Sri Lanka's Public Security Minister's Son has published a Facebook post mocking an attack on a well-known journalist.

Sri Lanka's Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera's Son Sachithra Weerasekera is a doctor attached to the Sri Lanka Police.

He has mocked the attack on well-known TV journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrema, an incident that made headlines yesterday. Many parties expressed shock at the Police Minister's son's callous disregard to the public sentiments surrounding this incident.

This move came amidst repeated calls on the Police to probe the incident and bring the culprits to book.

It is speculated that Samarawickrema's house in Piliyandala came under attack from an unknown group over the content he created for social media.

The Police Minister's son, however, has later removed his Facebook post.
