Attorney-at-Law Hijaz Hezbollah, who was arrested and remanded under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was released on bail by the Court of Appeal today (07).

The Court of Appeal issued the order after considering a petition filed on behalf of Hezbollah seeking his release on bail.

The order was deivered by a panel of Appeal Court Judges comprising Menaka Wijesundera and Neil Iddawela.

When the petition was called recently, the Attorney General had stated in court that he had no objection to the bail application.

The lawyer was arrested by the CID on April 14, 2020 on suspicion of involvement in a terrorist attack on Easter Sunday.
