Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is unlikely to pursue legal action against his Private Secretary Uditha Lokubandara for allegedly embezzling money from his private account, sources close to the Prime Minister said.
They further added that Lokubandara had promised to return the money embezzled from the Prime Minister’s personal account.
Lokubandara had allegedly embezzled Rs. 35 million from a personal account of Prime Minister Rajapaksa . His government salary since 2005 had been transferred to the same bank account.
Lokubandara, a former Parliamentarian and the son of former Minister W.J.M. Lokubandara, worked as the Private Secretary of Mahinda Rajapaksa for several years.
Lokubandara has been removed from his person after it was revealed that he had siphoned off money from the Prime Minister’s bank account.
