Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has stated that his 32 year political career was ruined due to the "organic farming" programme.

The Minister also said that the allegations made by the farmers regarding the organic farming program during the Maha season were fair.

Despite these facts, the Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that he is committed to ensuring the success of the organic farming programme launched by the President as it was important for the country's future.

He made these remarks while speaking at a discussion held at the Ministry of Agriculture with the National Federation of Farmers' Organizations.
