President Instructs CEB Heads To Resolve Issues Without Inconveniencing Public As PUCSL Sanctions Power-cuts

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has instructed the heads of the power and energy sectors to find a solution to the power crisis without inconveniencing the public.

Officials have pointed out that this situation has arisen due to several problems that have arisen in the generation of electricity using coal and fossil fuels.

The officials further stated that Sri Lanka's coal reserves were sufficient to avert a power crisis and the efficient management of fuel-generated electricity can prevent power cuts.

However, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has granted permission to the Ceylon Electricity Board to conduct daily power-cuts from today onwards.
