Ravi Kumudesh, President of the Association of Health Professionals, said that there was a risk of a shortage of about 80 types of drugs due to non-issuance of Letters of Credit due to the dollar crisis inSri Lanka.
Kumudesh said that the process of ordering essential medicines has already been delayed by about four months due to non-issuance of letters of credit for the year 2022.
A number of sectors have been seferely affected due to the dollar crisis faced by Sri Lanka. The Government has anounced daily power-cuts from today onwards while Petroleum Minister Udaya Gammanpila has said he is yet to secure dollars to import fuel.
