SLPP MP Susil Premajayantha has been removed from his state minister portfolio, the President's Media Division (PMD) announced.

The removal came in the wake of his critical remarks against the government.

Premajayantha said the Cabinet had failed in fulfilling the aspirations of the poeple and said several ministers, including the Agriculture Minister, was responsible for the food crisis.

Premajayantha, who also served as a Minister of the previous government, joined the SLPP before the last Presidential election.
