The National Livestock Development Board says that the prices of local milk powder and liquid milk will be increased in the future.
When we inquired about this from the Chairman of the National Livestock Development Board Prof. Sumith Magamage he said that in the current situation such an action would have to be taken.
However, a final decision has not been taken yet, he said.
He added that all production costs and packaging costs have gone up necessitating a price increase.
Meanwhile, the price of a kilo of imported milk powder has been increased from Rs. 1,195 to Rs. 1,345.
Moreover, the price of a 400 gram packet of milk powder has been increased from Rs. 480 to Rs. 540
