Several SLPP MPs have lodged a complaint with the police against SJB MPs Ashok Abeysinghe's statement on the "culprits" behind the Easter Sunday attacks.

Addressing a public gathering, Abeysinghe said it was President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and firmer Minister Basil Rajapaksa who orchestrated the terror attacks. The funding for their activisties, according to Abeysinghe, was provided by Nissanka Senadhipathy.

Government MPs said Abeysinghe had attempted to incite disharmony among communities with his "irresponsible and baseless" statement.

They also urged the police to take stern action against the opposition MP over the statement in question.

MPs Udayana Kirindigoda, Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon, Sanjeewa Edirimanne, Madhura Vithana, Jagath Kumara and Milan Jayathilaka have signed off the complaint.
