Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi returned to the Ministry of Health yesterday having recovered from COVID19.

Wanniarachchi received treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the IDH, Colombo, as her symptoms worsened. Wanniarachchi was also one of the government members who publicly consumed the controversial local cure for COVID19 produced by an individual named Dhammika Bandara.

State Minister Channa Jayasumana was appointed the Acting Minister of Health during her absence.

However, Wanniarachchi was seen attending to her duties at the Ministry of Health yesterday and examining the progress of the COVID19 control measures.
