February 07, 2021

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is due to visit Sri Lanka on February 22 for a two-day visit.

Khan is expected to hold discussions with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

The visit comes a day ahead of the resolution on Sri Lanka being taken up before the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Informed diplomatic sources said Sri Lanka was relying on Pakistan's support to mitigate pressure from the UNHRC on the country's human rights track record.
