Responding to allegations over his daighter's diplomatic posting, Samagi Jana Balawegaya National Organiser Tissa Attanayake said the appointment was given during the previous government and the process was halted due to the Presidential election.
"This is now being used to sling mud at me," Attanayake told Asian Mirror, a short while ago. Attanayake said the Cabinet Memorandum in this regard was presentd by former Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana in 2019.
The former Minister, a founding member of the SJB, said his daughter had completed her post-graduate studies in Business Administration and International Relations. "Given her academic qualifications, she is well-suited to hold a diplomatic positing," he added.
Speaking further, Attanayake said Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa also congratulated his daughter on the appointment and he was fully aware that it was not a favour granted by the current government.
Attanayake also shared with Asian Miror a copy of the Cabinet paper, presented by former Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana, with regard to his daughter's appointment in April, 2019.
