Former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga has turned down the Senior Vice Chairman post of the UNP.

The UNP Working Committee decided to appoint Ranatunga as a Senior Vice Chairman of the party last week. However, it is reported that many seniors of the party, including Ranatunga, are disappointed with the appointments made by the WC.

Ranatunga turned down the appointment a day after Navin Dissanayake declined the National Organiser post of the UNP.

It is also learnt that a number of seniors are disappointed with the move to nominate Ranil Wickremesinghe as the national list nominee of the party.
