State Minister Arundika Fernando who has tested positive for COVID19 has attended two media interviews over the past few days.
A day before he underwent the PCR test, he appared on the "Big Focus" television show on Derana, hosted by Chatura Alwis. This has made the popular TV presenter a primary contact of the State Minister and both of them were seen not wearing masks during the programme. He has also attended a radio porgramme on the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
It is also learnt that the State Minister has attended a number of public meetings in several areas over the past few days. This has made his contract tracing a difficult task, informed health sources added.
They also stated that the State Minister had shown mild symptoms which prompted him to take a PCR test.
Fernando is the seventh Sri Lankan Parliamentarian to test positive for the virus.
