About 300 persons, including some senior health officials, have been identified as close contacts of Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.

Wanniarachchi was tested positive for COVID19 on Friday evening and is currently under medical observation.

The Minister has participated in various meetings and discussions during the last five days.

Politicians including Basil Rajapaksa, Secretary to the Ministry Dr. SH Munasinghe, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena and a group of doctors and senior officials have participated in these meetings. A spokesman for the Ministry of Health said that the Minister had requested everyone who associated with her closely over the last few days to remain in self-quarantine.
