The foreigner who was found to have been infected with new COVID-19 variant was a visiting England all-rounder Moeen Ali who had come from UK on January (3), health official confirmed on Wednesday.

Official sources however said that several his associates have not been infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, speaking to media Deputy Director General of Public Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath all precautionary measures have been taken in order to prevent the new virus spreading from him, since the day he was diagnosed with the virus.

“No need to panic but follow strict Health guidelines as usual,” he urged the public. However, he refused to reveal the name of the cricketer.
