PHIs Request Government To Isolate Western Province Until January 01 To Prevent Public Movement During Holidays

The Association of Public Health Inspectors has requested the government to isolate the Western Province until January 1.

The public health inspectors have also demanded that travel restrictions be imposed on other districts.

They point out that the areas around the Colombo Municipal Council are high risk areas for the spread of COVID19.

They also warn that the virus could spread further as people travel to other districts to celebrate Christmas and New Year. many other bodies, including the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) have expressed their disappointment with the COVID19 management in the country.

The government, however, is yet to make a decision on imposing travel restrictions during the Christmas holidays. It is learnt that a crucial discussion in this regard will take place today.
