Former Mayor of Kotte Janaka Ranawaka today met Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and pledged support to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB)

Ranawaka contested the last Parliamentary election from the Colombo District on the SLPP ticket but failed to secure a seat.

He has also served as a Private Secretary to former President Maithripala Sirisena.

Ranawaka found himself at the centre of a controversy last year when he was indicted for securing unauthorized access to the computer system of then Deputy Mayor of Kotte Attorney-at-Law Madura Vithanage when Ranawaka was the Mayor of Kotte. Vithanage is now a Member of Parliament for the SLPP.
