In an interesting turn of events, the witch doctor in Kegalle, Dhammika Bandara, told the people who obtained the mysterious COVID19 medicine not to use it with a "doubtful mind".

He also added that the medicine would be given to the public on a free of charge basis and only a limited number of samples would be given out within a day.

Bandara said if an infected person consumed the medicine, the virus would be eliminated from the body. "If a normal person consumes it, he will never contract the virus," he added vouching for the efficacy of the so-called "cure" he invented.

Thousands of people thronged outside the house of the witch doctor in Kegalle today to obtain samples of his medicine. They lined up on the roads leading to his house completely disregarding health and safety guidelines set by the state authorities to prevent the spreading of the virus.

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi came under severe criticism on social media when she visited the witch doctor and took a sip of his “mysterious medicine” indicating that it has got the seal of approval from the government. The ingredients of the medicine still remain a mystery and it is yet to be scientifically or clinically established that this medicine can cure COVID19.

The Association of Ayurvedic Medical Practitioners has already claimed that the so-called medicine was produced illegally and Ayurvedic doctors should not be held accountable if the drug causes adverse effects on the public.

The association also stated that the producer of the medicine, a person who claims to be an indigenous doctor, is not registered with the Ayurveda Department.
