Export Development Board Chairman Prabhash Subasinghe has resigned from his post with immediate effect. This is the second high-profile resignation in the state sector reported this week.
Subasinghe was appointed to the post in December 2019 and was entrusted with the task of strengthening the country's export sector.
Commenting on his resignation, Subasinghe has stated that he accepted the post of Chairman for a period of one year only. He says his intention is to devote more time to his personal business.
Subasinghe says that he was able to do a significant service to exporters during his one year tenure as Chairman and that he is pleased to be able to do such a service even in the midst of the COVID19 epidemic.
Susantha Ratnayake, who served as the Chairman of the Board of Investment, also announced his resignation recently.
