The 15-year-old Japanese girl who is at the heart of a controversy over her affair with a Sri Lankan has revealed a video statement saying she does not want to go back to Japan as she has been sexually abused by her mother’s boyfriend.

According to her video statement, her mother’s boyfriend is a person by the name of “Costa”. She said her mother turned a blind eye to the continuous abuse and her personal safety was at risk in Japan, as ‘Costa’ appears to be a “vicious person”.

“It was Kasun who saved me. I am safe with him. I don’t want to go back to Japan. I urge the Sri Lankan authorities to address this matter compassionately,” she said referring to her 24-year-old Sri Lankan boyfriend. She asserted that she came to Sri Lanka according to her own wish and she was never “abducted”.

The controversy surrounding her affair took a different turn after it was revealed that she was pregnant. According to the Sri Lankan law, she is below the age of sexual consent and her boyfriend faces legal action for statutory rape.

The girl’s mother had previously lodged a police complaint that her daughter was abducted by the Sri Lankan youth and forcibly brought her to Sri Lanka.
