Popular actress Chathurika Peiris has tested positive for COVID19.

Issuing a video statement, her husband Gayan Wickremathilake confirmed that the actress was receiving treatement in hospital.

Wickremethilake says he and his daughter have been placed under quarantine at their personal residence in Maharagama.

"There were numerous reports on social media that all of us have been infected with COVID19. That's not true. We are in good health and we are in touch with the Police and health authorities," he said.

He said the condition of his wife is stable and she is under medical observation at the Neville Fernando Hospital, Malabe.
