Two COVID19 infected patients who were receiving treatment at the IDH Hospital in Colombo have escaped, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

An infected mother from Eheliyagoda had fled with her two and a half-year-old son.

The DIG further said that the infected mother had gone to her house in Eheliyagoda and handed over the child to the residents and fled.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had fled last night (19).

Police are investigating to find the infected woman who escaped.
