State Minister of Fisheries Kanchana Wijesekera stated that the Peliyagoda Fish Market Complex will be reopened soon in accordance with health and safety standards.

Under the first hase, only wholesale trade will be permitted at the fish market. The Minister of State instructed the officials to take steps to register all the traders and to adopt a new methodology to transact using the 'QR' system instead of using currency notes.

Wijesekera gave these instructions after inspecting the Peliyagoda fish market complex with officials from the Ministry of Fisheries, the Ministry of Health and the Security Forces.
