President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has established a special Presidential Task Force that will operate under the direction of Western Province Governor Air Marshal Roshan Goonetileke to look into the health situation in all of the tri-forces camps.

The decision comes as the number of cases among the forces increase - in the Navy alone, 180 officers have contracted COVID-19.

The Task Force is expected to ensure all the tri-forces camps maintain strict health precautions to ensure and to report back to the President.

The President has said that is equally important that failures in the system are reported in addition to successes."
