Six Flights Diverted from BIA Due to Adverse Weather

Six flights bound for Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) were diverted to alternative airports yesterday due to adverse weather conditions.

The affected flights were rerouted as follows:

  • Air Arabia G9508 (A320) from Sharjah to Colombo: Diverted to Kozhikode International Airport (CCJ).
  • Sri Lankan Airlines UL116 (A333) from Male to Colombo: Diverted to Mattala International Airport (HRI).
  • Sri Lankan Airlines UL455 (A333) from Tokyo to Colombo: Diverted to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV).
  • Emirates EK652 (B777) from Male to Colombo: Diverted to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV).
  • IndiGo 6E1173 (A320) from Chennai to Colombo: Diverted to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV).
  • Etihad Airways EY396 (A321) from Abu Dhabi to Colombo: Diverted to Mattala International Airport (HRI).
