Defence Secretary Maj.Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne said there was no need to seek assistance from foreign countries to deploy their military to fight the spread of coronavirus in Sri Lanka.
The senior official said Sri Lankan Tri-Forces and the Police are fully capable of containing the spread of coronavirus.
He was responding to a media report that the stated the Indian military was ready to send military trouped to Sri Lanka to help the national mission against COVID19.
The story was promptly denied by the Indian government.
“Our military has already shown their expertise and professionalism in handling the emergency situation created under coronavirus threat,” the Defence Ministry Secretary told the media.
