Former TNA MP M.A. Sumathiran today argued in courts today that the curfew imposed on the country was not lawful.
Sumanthiran was appearing on behalf of former MP Ranjan Ramanayake who was produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate today for violating curfew. Upon Sumanthiran's intervention, Ramanayake was released on bail.
"Police say the suspects didn’t have curfew passes, but we argued that there is no lawful curfew imposed in the country. Because of the current situation, everyone should follow it but it’s not lawful," Sumanthiran said.
The government has imposed curfew without enacting emergency regulations.
