Former Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya leader Sajith Premadasa said not to hasten the electoral process in the midst of the COVID19 outbreak in Sri Lanka.
"If the government decides to go for an election without completely eliminating the COVID19 threat from the country, it will jeopardise the entire population and our valued health workers," Premadasa said issuing a video statement, a short while ago.
Premadasa also said "We urge the government to channel all its focus into fighting COVID19 at this point, without thinking of holding an election to further narrow political agendas.
If the government fails to act decisively on this, the unreserved commitment and dedication of our health workers will prove to be futile."
