The Sri Lanka Navy’s R&D Unit has developed a remote smart appliance called ‘Medi Mate’ to help test and treat COVID19.

Medi Mater allows healthcare workers to remain at a safe distance from those with the virus.

The smart appliance is based on a concept by Thushara Kelum Wadasinghe. This aims to ensure the safety of healthcare workers treating COVID19 patients in designated hospitals.

The device was handed over to the Dr Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital yesterday.
