Minister Dullas Alahapperuma and former State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera have come under fire on social media platforms for holding an alleged political meeting despite the social distancing methods advocated by health authorities.
The meeting was held at SLPP Matara District candidate Karuna Kodithuwwakku's house. Kodithuwakku is also an electorate organiser of the SLPP in the Matara District.
Issuing a statement on Facebook, Wijesekera confirmed that the meeting was attended by SLPP representatives in the area to discuss relief measures for the public during the time of curfew.
However, cutouts and banners displaying Kodithuwwaku's pictures and the symbol of the SLPP were clearly in display during the meeting.
Many who commented on the issue on social media hit out at the irresponsible conduct of the two ruling party politicians.
