Former Air Force Commander Marshal of the Air Force Roshan Gunathilake has been appointed the Governor of the Western Province.

He replaces Dr. Seetha Arambepola who resigned from the post following her nomination as a national list candidate of the SLPP.

Gunathilake was the Air Force chief during the final stage of the war.

He also worked as the Chief of Defence Staff and as a security advisor to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
