Police have launched investigations into 23 persons who have created/spread misinformation and fake news about COVID19 - these include stories about suspected patients escaping, food shortages etc.

The Police said they could be arrested without a warrant and can face up to two years imprisonment.

The Police also requested the public to refrain from sharing this kind of information unless announced by proper sources. "Those spreading misinformation are wrongdoers in the eyes of the law."

They also added that law will be enforced on those that knowingly hide symptoms of COVID19, or refuse to be tested/admitted if they suspect they have COVID-19. Those refusing to be admitted to quarantine centres will also be arrested without a warrant and imprisoned for between 6-24 months
