Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake's lawyers have filed a writ application before the Court of Appeal requesting to cancel the arrest warrant issued by the Fort magistrate on the MP.
The Fort Magistrate issued a warrant to arrest Karunanayake in relation to the bond transaction in March, 2019 during Karunanayake's tenure as the Finance Minister.
The CID sought a warrant to arrest him following instructions from the Attorney General's Department.
However, the CID later told the Magistrate that they could not locate Karunanayake as the latter was not at his residence in Colombo.
