Media Ministry Requests Rs. 48 Million From Treasury To Pay Salaries of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Staff

The Ministry of Media has requested Rs. 48 million from the Treasury to pay the salaries of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation staff.

The state-run television channel has run into massive financial losses in the recent past due to mismanagement. SLRC workers staged several protests in the recent past against what they termed as "short-sighted" decisions by the management.

Currently, 900 workers are employed at the state-run television station operating under the purview of the Ministry of Media.

The Ministry has requested the Treasury to release the money considering the national service rendered by the SLRC.
