The Movement for a Just Society has requested Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to take up the leadership of the organization.

The request has been made on the basis that the organization's founder, Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera shared a close relationship with the Speaker.

The request has come to the Speaker at the height of the leadership crisis within the UNP.

The Speaker is yet to formally respond to the request by the organisation, informed political sources said.

Parliament is likely to be dissolved early next week and the Parliamentary election is likely to take place in April.
