SLPP stalwart Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said 'Zero' should be the new symbol of the proposed UNP-led alliance.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo, Abeywardena said the party was struggling without a symbol for the new alliance.
"If they make 'Zero' their symbol, no one will fight for it and no one will oppose it. After all, it is a realistic symbol for the UNP as that's what they will get at the next Parliamentary election."
The SLPP MP said the UNP's plan to get 90 seats at the next election would only turn out to be a pipe-dream.
