All parties supporting the Sri Lanka Freedom People's Alliance, led by the SLPP, have agreed to contest the upcoming Parliamentary election under the flower bud symbol.

Informed political sources said the SLFP, which earlier had apprehensions about contesting under the flower bud symbol, had agreed to contest under the same symbol.

The agreement was reached following a meeting between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and former President Maithripala Sirisena at Temple Trees last evening.

Other affiliated parties of the alliance, including the LSSP, the Communist Party and CWC have also agreed to contest under the same symbol.
