Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said the government has to act cautiously on contentious matters as it still does not have a parliamentary majority.
Addressing an event in Kandeviharaya, Rajapaksa said this was why the current government was not able to deliver on promises given to the public before the last Presidential election.
"The current Parliament will convene for only three more days. After that the President will have the constitutional right to dissolve the House. we will hold the Parliamentary election in April, " Rajapaksa added.
He said the Attorney General's Department was working on bringing perpetrators of the bond scam to book.
"We haven't forgotten the matter. We will work expeditiously to punish the culprits, " he said.
