Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga is currently being questioned by the CID at the Katunaike Bandaranaike International Airport.

Weeratunga was under investigation for several high-profile cases including the MIG deal.

Weeratunga, a close relative of the Rajapaksa family, returned to the country early this morning.

Although an Interpol warrant was issued on him, the Police could not take measures to arrest the former Ambassador.
