Former Parliamentarian Omalpe Sobhitha Thera said it should be investigated as to who gave Rs. 270 million to Sajith Premadasa's election campaign.
Addressing a press conference today, Sobhitha Thera said it was important to ascertain if "black money" was used in the election campaign.
"Now they talk about Sajith Premadasa being unable to pay the loans he obtained during the election period. Who gave him money in the first place?" he asked.
The senior Buddhist monk said there should be laws in Sri Lanka to regulate campaign financing.
"The Elections Commission Chairman must take this matter into serious consideration. We need to know who channels money into these campaigns," he added.
