State Minister of Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena today stated that 99.9 percent of the delimitation of Local Government bodies have been completed and the election could be held by June.

He said that the Gazette notification on the new electoral system has to be approved by the Parliamentary Committee before it is published and it will take some time.

Abeywardena added that the government has to introduce this new electoral system which will be a mixed system of first past the post and PR systems. President Sirisena promised to reform the PR system and the government has to carry out the promise despite the delay, he added.
