The Attorney General today filed fresh indictments against former minister Basil Rajapaksa and former Director General of Divi Neguma Department Kithsiri Ranawake on the printing of almanacs using Divi Neguma funds.

This refutes allegations of political deals which were circulating since yesterday, after the AG withdrew the earlier case.

The AG cited a technicality as the reason for the withdrawal. When the indictment was filed, a sanction letter by the AG had not been submitted.

The fresh indictment has been submitted with the sanction letter of the AG.
